What is it?
As the name makes very clear, this is the next generation Subaru Impreza. Some of the motor show detailing will be lost, like the stupid tiny reversing cameras on the door pillars (look closely and you'll just about see them), but largely this is it. Is that a collective cheer we can hear?
Why's it here?
This might, just might, be the most important car of the LA show for you and I. See, once the smoke's cleared, this could be the car that saves the Impreza's sorry hatchback behind. You don't need us to tell you that the current hatchback Impreza has been a big fat fail for the company, so it's back to the old four-door body - now with added style!
The concept has four-wheel drive and a 2.0-litre boxer engine - some things don't change - and look at the snazzy touch-screen interior. Where has this sense of style come from, Subaru?
Show stopper or floor filler?
Amid the outlandishness of the Mercedes LA Design Challenge concept and the pomp of the five-door Range Rover Evoque, this Impreza is an aside. However, just you wait until the STI version rears its massive spoiler next year -we'll all be clamouring.
