On sale from today (July 1), the Miyako special edition marks the latest part of the MX-5's birthday celebrations.
Taking its name from the popular Japanese holiday island, Miyakojima, it's the first time Mazda has offered an upgraded MX-5 in both soft-top and Roadster Coupé flavours, with the 1.8-litre 124bhp engine in the soft-top, or the 2.0-litre 158bhp in the Roadster Coupé.
The spec list includes a unique design of alloy wheel, front fog lamps and front suspension strut brace, while metallic paint is a no-cost option, with the car being offered in Aluminium silver metallic - or Velocity Red Mica for those opting for the soft-top. Inside, there's black leather trim, with red stitching, exclusive badging and climate control.
Mazda sales director Mark Cameron said "This is the first special edition model offered on both body styles and I am sure it will attract new buyers to our brand. Both models also represent great value, with the 2.0i Miyako costing just £590 more than the entry level 2.0 SE model."
Priced at £18,385 for the soft-top or £20,885 for the Roadster Coupé, the Miyako is limited to 500 examples of each for UK customers.
