Arash Farboud may be a name known to only a few dedicated supercar fanatics in the UK, but his AF-10 looks set to be a player on the world stage when it's launched in 2010. These are the first official images of the British-built machine and the signs are all good.
The AF-10 uses a carbon fibre and aluminium core for its chassis construction, putting it alongside the likes of the
Bugatti Veyron and Ferrari FXX for high-tech materials. Only the fuel tank, suspension and integral roll cage are not made from carbon fibre.
The mid-mounted engine is borrowed from Corvette and is the 7.0-litre V8 of the Z-06. That means 550bhp and 475lb.ft of torque. Arash has not released full performance figures, but it says top speed will be 205mph and 0-62mph should be dealt with in less than 3.5 seconds.
For those who want even more performance, Arash is working on a supercharged version of the Corvette's 7.0-litre motor. It will pack 800bhp and outdo the Bugatti Veyron with its power-to-weight ratio, as the AF-10 tips the scales at a supermodel-esque 1,200kg. As with the standard car, power is sent to the rear wheels only, through a six-speed manual gearbox.
Arash says the AF-10 is undergoing a thorough road test development period at present, much of which is being conducted at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire. Only when this is completed will customer cars be delivered from the middle of 2010.
