Mitsubishi is going all Evo on the Outlander. The GT concept car was seen at the
New York Auto Show earlier this year and Mitsubishi has now released a raft of new images to show how the production model is set to look.
Mitsubishi insiders say the Evo-like restyle is a 'clear indication of the direction the Outlander is set to take'. A new bonnet is used to match up with the Evo-style headlights and front grille, while the deep front bumper features foglights and a discreet sump guard.
Other styling changes include side skirts and rear bumper, though the polished aluminium roof of the New York show car has not made it to the showroom version. However, the roof is still made of aluminium to help reduce weight. A set of 19-inch OZ Racing alloy wheels and larger Brembo brakes have made it to production versions of the GT.
Mitsubishi has not announced any power upgrades for the Outlander GT, though the New York show car came with a mildy tuned 3.0-litre V6 producing 230bhp. European models will more likely use the same 2.0- and 2.2-litre turbodiesel and 2.4-litre petrol engines as in the current car. The revised Outlander should hit UK showrooms in the spring of 2010.
