Volkswagen has announced UK prices for the latest Polo. Prices start at £10,035 and the order book is now open with the first cars due to be delivered on 16th October.
At launch, five engines are available: petrol power includes two 1.2-litre motors with either 59- or 69bhp and a 1.4 that develops 84bhp. The 1.6-litre TDI common rail diesel comes in either 74bhp or 89bhp guise.
Four trim levels will be offered: S, 'Moda' aimed at younger buyers, SE and SEL. The S and Moda include an 'A/C' model for people who want climate control. All Polos come with four airbags and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), while DAB digital radio and touch screen satellite navigation are offered as options.
The S and Moda are only available with the smaller petrol engine with the S priced from £10,035 - or £600 extra with air conditioning. Prices for the Moda and SE with either of the 1.2-litre engines are identical at £11,385 - or £11,995 depending on power output. Top of the range is the SEL TDI, which has the 89bhp engine and costs £14,910.
More Polo variants are on their way: the three-door will go on sale in December; the turbocharged, 1.2-litre, 104bhp TSI engine will join the range early 2010. Later next year GTI and BlueMotion versions will further broaden the range.
