SEAT has added a 1.6-litre TDI engine to the Ibiza range. The new motor joins the 1.4- and 1.9-litre TDI units. With low CO
2 emissions and a particulate filter it promises to be a thoroughly modern power unit.
The 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine uses common rail fuelling. Power is 104bhp, which SEAT claims will take the Ibiza from 0-62mph in 10.5 seconds and on to 117mph. Combined cycle fuel economy is 67.2mpg with CO
2 emissions of 109g/km.
The new engine is offered in both the
five-door hatchback body and the
three-door SC shell. It joins the 1.4-litre TDI, Ecomotive TDI and 1.9-litre TDI in the line-up, the latter of which the new engine matches for power. Like the Ibiza Ecomotive, the 1.6 TDI is fitted with a particulate filter and meets EU5 emissions regulations.
The new diesel engine will arrive at SEAT dealers in July. More details, including prices will be released closer to the model's launch date.
