We know what you're thinking: the Sultan of Brunei couldn't decide between four colours to go with the chrome wings on his new Veyron, so he just bought all of them. Not so. This foursome of Veyrons is Bugatti's lavish 100th birthday gift to itself, which takes its present tally to five following the
Blue Centenaire it donated to itself before putting it on display at
Geneva in March.
Called the Type 35, the new cars are built in homage to the original Bugatti Type 35, which stamped the maker's place in car making and racing history and also made the horseshoe-shaped grille that the Veyron wears famous. Apparently, the four colours (blue, red, green and white, in case you're looking at a monochrome screen) represent the racing colours of France, Italy, England and Germany respectively, because the Type 35 won hundreds of races between the mid-1920s and '30s.
Unveiled at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy among a bevy of historic beauties, Bugatti hasn't confirmed whether four lucky billionaires can buy one of them yet, but bet your life if they can it'll be for a premium slightly higher than the average pot of metallic paint.
