Some of us pass the time scribbling supercar ideas on waste paper, but some do things a bit more seriously and turn out amazing design concepts like this Lamborghini Insecta. The work of Romanian designer Iulian Bumbu, the Insecta is a vision of how future Lamborghinis could look.
Eschewing Lamborghini's usual bullfighting nomenclature, Bumbu's Insecta instead takes its inspiration from insects, its shape aping the body armour and exoskeletons from certain insect species. Even so, Bumbu has managed to integrate Lamborghini's traditional bold geometric lines into his design, particularly around the front of the car. Lamborghini's trademark scissor doors feature and the overall shape is unmistakably Lamborghini. Based around the drivetrain and proportions of the
Gallardo, Bumbu's rendering makes the current car look instantly dated.
Bumbu, who studied a masters in design at the Scuola Politecnica di Design, Milan - and completed a three-month internship in Centro Stile Alfa Romeo - says that in the Insecta the idea was to create an extreme supercar that introduces more organic lines into Lamborghini's geometrical style. We certainly can't argue with the results.
