The TT has long been the rumoured recipient of RS modifications but it's taken until now for Audi to actually get around to doing it. Due to be shown in
Geneva next week, the TT RS represents the ultimate road going TT, Audi reviving a historical link to the original ur-quattro with its five-cylinder turbocharged engine. In the TT RS Audi is claiming the combination of 2.5-litres, five-cylinders and turbocharging will result in a power output in excess of 300bhp, some rumouring the TT RS to have as much as 340bhp. Certainly, Audi is being playful with details, teasing that the TT RS will reach 62mph in 'nowhere near five seconds' and that 155mph is the limited top speed only on paper.
With performance like that on offer the TT RS will rival the performance of its
R8 relative. It's expected to be a more hardcore driving experience than its mid-engined relative though, the RS certainly looking more aggressive with deep front air intakes and a fixed-wing rear spoiler. Further details of the TT range-topper will be revealed next week in Geneva, no doubt with a Bryan Adams backing track...
