Mitsubishi has announced the debut of a sporting electric concept vehicle ahead of the
Geneva Motor Show in March. The i MiEV Sport Air is intended to show that electric power is compatible with driving enjoyment.
The styling is unusual, with a snub-nose and long wheelbase. Other design features include a removable transparent roof panel. This is designed to offer the wind-in-the-hair experience of traditional sports cars and highlight the car's eco friendly qualities.
The distance between front and rear axles allows the lithium-ion batteries to be carried low down, within the wheelbase. According to Mitsubishi this is to keep the centre of gravity low for good handling. Driver appeal is further enhanced by the power delivery of the electric motors that apparently offer 'powerful acceleration'.
Although not necessarily destined for production, the i MiEV Sport Air suggests the form a Mitsubishi sports electric vehicle might take in the future. We'll get our first look at the Sport Air concept at the 79th Geneva Motor Show on 3rd March.
