At the
Paris motor show next month Chevrolet will unveil a multi-purpose vehicle concept car. Called the Orlando it is an indication of the type of model likely to be added to the Chevrolet range in the near future.
Under the skin the Orlando is based on the recently announced
Chevrolet Cruze saloon, but it receives an all new body. The styling is said to be inspired by off-road sport utility vehicles and a rounded one-box shape has been eschewed in favour of a distinct division between bonnet and windscreen. A high roof and flat sides help make this mid-sized car look large and also maximise interior space.
Three rows of seats mean allow up to seven people to be accommodated inside. Alternatively the rear seats can be folded away to provide what is described as a large cargo area.
Under the bonnet a 2.0-litre turbo diesel develops 148bhp and 236lb.ft of torque and should provide a decent mix of performance and economy. It is possible that the 1.6 and 1.8 petrol engines from the Cruze would also be offered in the production version.
Expect more details to be revealed at the Paris Mondial de l'Automobile on 2nd October.
