| Special edition | 2008 British International Motor Show | Vauxhall Corsa VXR Arctic Edition |
Vauxhall will display the limited edition Corsa VXR Arctic Edition alongside the Astra VXR Nurburgring and the latest version of the VXR8 at the
British Motor Show next week.
Five hundred Arctic Edition Corsas will be sold in the UK. Glacier White paint with contrasting black alloys, door mirrors and roof help distinguish it from the standard VXR. Other identifiers include an electrically operated, sliding glass sunroof and tinted rear windows.
Along with the cosmetic modifications the VXR Arctic Edition gains 225/35 low-profile tyres and a Remus Sports exhaust. The latter lifts engine output by 15bhp, increasing maximum power to 204bhp. As well as a power increase the exhaust should give the Corsa an impressive sound track; the Remus exhaust on the Astra VXR Nurburgring is full of character.
No claims have been made for improved performance but the Arctic Edition should shave a little off the standard VXR's claimed 0-60mph time of 6.8 seconds and add a little to the 140mph top speed. The Corsa VXR Arctic Edition is available now for £16,995, £995 more than the standard VXR.
Keeping the Corsa company on the show stand is a Heron White VXR8. Fitted with the new 6.2-litre LS3 V8 - which produces 425bhp - Vauxhall claims 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds.
The final sporting car in Vauxhall's all white line-up is the Astra VXR Nurburgring Edition. Launched in April this year the 251bhp Astra has a wider track, 18-inch alloy wheels and bespoke Dunlop tyres to enhance the handling.
The VXR models will appear along with the brand new Vauxhall Insignia at the British International Motor Show (23rd July-3rd August).
