| New Model Preview | 2008 Geneva Motor Show | Skoda Superb |
Skoda revealed its new Superb the night before the
Geneva motor show and it has even more interior space than the
previous generation. However, the Czech firm has managed this while making the new car smaller on the outside.
The vast cabin has build quality that exceeds the old model's too, while safety has been further improved with the addition of a driver's knee airbag as standard across the range.
Also standard on all models will be Skoda's new 'Twindoor' design for the boot. This offers users the standard boot opening of a saloon or the fully opening rear of a hatch. Skoda has done this by inserting a hinge where the rear window meets the boot lid, and both are worked by an electric boot release.
Engine choice is from 1.4- and 1.8-litre petrol engines, with a 3.6-litre V6 topping the range with standard four-wheel drive and six-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Diesels are taken care of by a 1.9-litre and 2.0-litre turbodiesels with 138- and 167bhp.
The new Superb reaches UK showrooms in September and prices are set to start at £15,000.
