Mitsubishi will use the
2006 New York Auto Show to launch the US version of the Outlander. Though broadly similar to the car we first saw in
Tokyo last year, the NY show hosts the world premiere of a new 3-litre V6 engine featuring Mitsubishi's MIVEC variable valve timing.
In the case of the Outlander, this new unit will be mated with a new six-speed automatic gearbox that features behind-the-wheel paddles for manual changing should the driver feel the need. In America, the Mitsubishi Outlander will be available with just front-wheel drive or an electronically controlled four-wheel drive system.
We are expecting to receive the Outlander in Europe this year to replace the awkward-looking
current model. Expect more news at the
2006 Paris Motor Show where European buyers should get their first glimpse at the stylish Outlander that promises to be good to drive on the road, as well as having moderate mud-plugging abilities. Watch this space.
