What's this then?
This is the car to celebrate 30 years of BMW M-Car convertibles, the M4 30 Jahre Edition.
Sounds a bit foreign...
Well, yes, it's German. Jahre is German for years, and it's 30 years since the original E30 BMW M3 Convertible, with its tiny four-cylinder engine developing a mere 215hp; and that was the most powerful version you could get.
I presume this one has rather more?
Rather more that twice. In fact, the 30 Jahre Edition gets 450hp, almost a 20hp increase over the standard M4. There's an extra-noisy M-exhaust too, as well as a hero mode for the stability control and the drift-happy active M-Differential.
Collars and cuffs match?
Oh yes, you can choose from just two colours - Macao Blue, which is supposed to be an eighties throwback, and Frozen Grey Metallic, which is exclusive to the UK. Inside, there's full Merino leather trim, as much carbon fibre as you can wave an autoclave at, and a choice of Black/Fjord Blue and Black/Silverstone colour schemes.
There's also a 30 Jahre Edition logo on the door sills and headrests, and a plaque telling you which of the 300 made that you were lucky enough to get.
Just the 300, then?
Yup, and only 30 of those will be coming to the UK. So with a price tag of £76,675, you'd better get saving soon as they'll sell quicker than their own 4.3sec 0-62mph time.
