What's all this about?
German tuning manufacturer TechArt, purveyors of ludicrously fast Porsche 911s from Carreras right up to Turbo models, has chosen this year's Essen Motor Show to unveil a new Carbon Fibre Sport Package for the 911 GT3.
Excellent, what does it encompass?
Made in-house at TechArt's place in Leonberg, just outside Stuttgart, the carbon parts can be in matte or high-gloss finishes and are available as individual items. But the GT3's Carbon Fibre Sport Package includes a lightweight bonnet with integrated air outlet, a front splitter and airblades, aerodynamic winglets, side skirts, a new rear wing profile, ram-air intakes for the rear-mounted engine and a rear diffuser all made out of the desirable, lightweight material. Finally, owners will get a set of titanium/carbon sport tailpipe finishers.
This all sounds very nice. Does TechArt offer anything else for the 911 GT3?
Yes, the Formula IV Race centre-lock forged alloys, 20 inches in diameter, can be specified, with the option to have them colour-matched to either the brake calipers or the interior contrast stitching. They can even be bicolour- or multicolour-painted, with further choices of a matte surface finish or the wheel run picked out in a contrast colour of the owner's choice. This links in to the 'Das TechArt Repertoire' customisation service, which allows owners to make their car completely unique, both inside and out. And, speaking of which...
Yes? Do go on.
Well, there's the TechArt Type 7 Sport steering wheel for the 911 GT3 as well. It's 360mm in diameter and ergonomically designed, featuring painted surfaces, leather, Alcantara and carbon-fibre trim. The choice of matching piping, stitching and perforations mean there are plenty of options to cycle through, while any of the wheel's standard functions - be they paddle shifts, wheel heating or multifunction buttons - are all preserved by TechArt.
