What's all this about?
We know that the mighty Mercedes-AMG Project One, the hybrid hypercar from the performance arm of Mercedes, is going to be revealed at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) for the first time. But before then here's one of those dimly lit teaser images of the insane creation.
And what does it show?
Not much, but we like the overall look of its front-on silhouette, which is redolent of the LMP1 racers that are normally seen pounding around the Circuit de la Sarthe for the Le Mans 24 Hours. And look! It's got a roof scoop! How cool is that?!
Have we got any more details?
Not really. We know its technology is similar to that found in Mercedes-Benz's current Formula 1 cars, so there's a turbocharged V6 petrol engine that's augmented by electric motors to churn out 1,000hp. That combination is reputedly capable of powering the car somewhere beyond 217mph. Mercedes-AMG also says that the IAA star 'combines outstanding racetrack performance with day-to-day suitable Formula 1 hybrid technology and exemplary efficiency'.
Anything else?
The IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 runs from September 14-24 this year, so we'll see more of the Project One then.
