What's an Arteon?
It's Volkswagen's name for a new 'fastback' model to sit above the Passat in its line-up, a replacement in all but name for the much-loved Volkswagen CC (previously called the Passat CC, as some will remember). It comes from 'Art' and, erm, 'eon', which applies to all of Volkswagen's premium models. Apparently.
Whatever. Talk us through the pictures.
Name aside, the Arteon shows promise in the design stakes, taking over where the already stylish CC left off and adding a far more dramatically different front end. The all-LED lights appear to merge as all one design piece with the chrome-plated bars of the radiator grille, which could be the start of a new Volkswagen look. The rear view doesn't look all that different to the CC, in truth.
Any other details?
Nothing concrete, though Volkswagen is hinting at latest generation driver assistance technology and it claims that the Arteon will be a very spacious car in all seats.
When can we see more?
Come back on March 6th, the evening before the first media day at this year's Geneva Motor Show. We'll know all then.
