What's all this about?
The new BMW 5 Series will be revealed in full next month and it features a host of technology that paves the way for automated driving. A short video has been released by BMW that showcases some of the features that will be available on the seventh generation 5 series, codenamed G30.
What can it do?
As with an increasing number of new cars, the next-gen 5 Series can follow the road, read and obey speed limits and it will even spot other vehicles in side roads and start applying the brakes should they pull out - thanks to a feature called 'Crossroads Warning'.
BMW has carefully blurred the appearance of the new model in its video to keep the styling a secret. However, it is expected that the new model will be around 100kg lighter than its predecessor. The structure incorporates a variety of lightweight materials including aluminium, magnesium and high-strength steel.
When does it get here?
Expect to see the new 5 Series in showrooms by early 2017.
