What's all this about?

Ford is looking for customers for the new Ford GT and has launched a website, complete with configurator, where prospective buyers can register their application.

What do you mean, 'application'?

You can't just go to your local Ford dealer to place an order; the company is looking for people who will celebrate the brand to ensure the first 500 cars find the right customers. Successful applicants will gain access to the Ford GT Concierge Service to manage the purchasing and ownership experience.

Henry Ford III, global marketing manager, Ford Performance said: "The purchase process for the Ford GT is as unique as our all-new supercar. We understand GT customers are strong ambassadors for Ford Motor Company and we look forward to providing them a service as distinct as the car itself."

Prospective buyers have until 12th May to register their interest. Just 250 Ford GTs will be built per year with the initial ordering period covering the first two years of production.

How about the configurator?

Whether or not you are in the market for the Ford GT the online configurator allows fans to experiment with combinations of paint, trim and wheels; and share the results on social media. There are eight body colours, seven stripe colours and four interior themes.

The configurator and application portal can be found at FordGT.com.
