What's all this about?
The Toyota GT86 is finally getting more power, courtesy of its maker.
Yay! What has Toyota done to it, bolted on a turbo?
Well, er... ahem... we, er, we might have got your hopes up a bit too much, if we're honest. From its previous outputs of 200hp and 204Nm, the 2017MY GT86 now has a mighty 205hp and 213Nm.
Never - 5hp and 9Nm?!
Yes.
Oh dear. Has Toyota done anything else to the coupé?
It has changed the damper and spring rates on the new car, as well as adjusted the manual gearbox's ratios for better performance. Oh, and Hill Start Assist Control is thrown in.
Are my eyes deceiving me, or does it look a bit different?
Yes, this appears to be a facelift in the main. New bumpers front and rear, redesigned alloy wheels, restyled LED headlights with a fresh indicator design, LED tail lamps and a revitalised interior with extra finishes and a steering wheel that now features audio controls (a much-needed addition, we can tell you) round out the alterations.
And when can we see this car in the flesh?
It will be at the New York Auto Show at the end of March, with the cars due on sale later in 2016.
