What's new about this then?
Well, this is the Volkswagen up!, the tiny city car that we always said was cool and minimalist enough to have been designed by Apple.
So, Volkswagen has gone and ruined it with a complicated makeover then?
Not so much, it would seem. There are new lights, bumpers, seven new colour options and trim bits, but overall it looks much like the up! we've always known and loved.
There is a new engine though - alongside the 60hp and 75hp three-cylinder 1.0-litre units, which have always been the core of the up! range, there's a new 90hp 1.0 TSI turbo. It'll do 65mpg and Volkswagen says that not only will it emit only 102g/km of CO2, it'll also keep up with a Mk1 Golf GTI with a 10-second 0-62mph dash time.
Inside, the changes are also pretty minimal, but you can have a new Composition Phone sound system that uses the Bluetooth connection to turn your phone into the car's on-board computer, featuring trip information, satnav and even tips to help maximise your economy.
And you can spec up that stereo yet further - there's now going to be an up! Beats edition, which will have, aside from 15-inch alloys and special stickers and seatbelts, a 300-watt sound system, with seven massive speakers (including a sub-woofer tucked away in the boot) designed by none other than Dr. Dre himself. Well, the audio specialist company he set up at any rate.
Overall, equipment levels will rise across the board, including LED daytime running lights as standard, and remote central locking on the base Take up! model. Volkswagen says that prices won't rise when the new up! hits dealers this summer.
