What's all this about?
Mercedes has confirmed details of the SLC range, with orders being taken now.
How much is it?
You'll need at least £30,045 for the entry-level Mercedes-Benz SLC 200; there are two model lines - Sport and AMG Line - with three engines. A Mercedes-AMG version with twin-turbo V6 power is available for £46,355.
Which engines do we get?
There are two petrol models, both with 2.0-litre engines under the bonnet, the 184hp SLC 200 and 245hp SLC 300; one diesel is available, the SLC 250 d with 204hp. The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 comes with a 3.0-litre engine that develops 367hp. A nine-speed automatic transmission is available across the range with a six-speed manual gearbox standard on the SLC 200.
What else do you get for the money?
The Sport models come with 17-inch, five-spoke alloys, LED daytime running lights and tail lamps, chrome plated twin exhausts and Active Brake Assist. AMG Line versions cost an extra £4,000 and come with 18-inch alloys, AMG styling and lowered suspension.
Standard equipment on the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 includes 18-inch, ten-spoke wheels, BITURBO lettering on the front wings and a boot spoiler. Inside, there are brushed stainless steel sill tread plates, an AMG steering wheel and special AMG instrument cluster.
Any options?
Plenty, including LED Intelligent Light System with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus for £1,150 and the Keyless Go package for£765.
