Aston Martin has announced details of a spectacular new V12 engine - and better than that, you can listen to a short video of it revving up if you like.
First, more details - is this powerplant a result of the tie-up with Mercedes-AMG?
No, Aston has developed this alone. So this is a thoroughly British unit.
What do we know about it at this stage?
Very little, aside from a few salient, glorious points: it displaces 5.2 litres; it is equipped with a pair of turbochargers; it will make somewhere around 600hp; and it will most likely see service in the soon-to-be-revealed DB11. Praise be!
Anything else?
It's going to be Aston's most powerful series-production V12 ever, as mental machines like the One-77 and Vulcan (both V12s with more grunt than the 5.2) both used specially tuned motors to make their peak outputs.
