What's all this about, then?
Well, Mitsubishi has been getting the plastic surgeon's knife out and taken it to the exterior and interior of its two most compact models - the ASX crossover and the Mirage supermini.
Although the two models are called, respectively, Outlander Sport and Mirage in the US market, these are the same cars that will be shortly coming to Europe and the UK too.
The ASX gets a new front end, which draws on a great deal of the recently-revised Outlander's styling for inspiration - what Mitsubishi calls the 'Dynamic Shield' look. Inside there are improved materials, a new steering wheel and a new 6.1-inch touchscreen for the stereo, while on the outside there are new mirrors with integrated indicators and new alloy wheels.
The Mirage meanwhile gets a new grille and lights at the front, while underneath there are tweaks to the suspension to make the mounting points stiffer, with revised dampers and springs, and bigger brakes front and rear. Inside, there are also improved materials, an optional Rockford Fosgate audio system and, for the first time on any Mitsubishi, the option of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
"October marked the 20th month of year-over-year sales increases for Mitsubishi Motors, and we expect this momentum to carry on as we debut vehicles that are better looking and packed with more value than ever before," said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, Mitsubishi North America. "We will continue to offer consumers reliable vehicles at value oriented price points, with some of the best warranties available in the industry."
