What's happening?
Nissan is attempting to get 'down with the kids' at this year's Tokyo Motor Show. The Japanese car giant is worried that there is a whole younger tech-savvy generation that simply isn't showing much of an interest in cars. In a bid to win the kids over before they reach car-driving age Nissan has created a boxy concept called the Teatro for Dayz.
What's with the weird name?
Teatro for Dayz gets the Teatro part of its name from the Italian for theater. The rest is a blend of design and marketing blurb we fear.
Is there anything special about it?
According to Nissan, the Teatro for Dayz is essentially a mobile blank canvas inside that has been engineered to allow its users to create and share their experiences. It features a smooth white interior and serves as a "giant mobile battery" as much as it does as a car.
What else will be there?
In terms of conventional models Nissan will exhibit its Leaf, which now features a higher capacity battery allowing for an extended driving range. There will also be a hybrid version of the X-Trail on display although the hybrid coupé-cum-crossover Gripz concept is likely to get more attention. Nissan has also dusted off last year's Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, given it a new grille and a fresh coat of paint as a way of reminding us that a new GT-R might not be too far away.
