What's all this about?
Skoda has added a four-wheel drive option to the Octavia vRS. Available with the 2.0-litre TDI engine and six-speed DSG transmission, the vRS 4x4 will cost £27,315 when it reaches showrooms later this year, or £28,515 for the estate version.
What are the facts and figures?
The Octavia's four-wheel drive system monitors traction at each wheel and can direct drive to whichever axle needs it. Maximum power from the 2.0-litre turbodiesel is 184hp with 380Nm of torque available between 1,750- and 3,250rpm. Skoda claims 0-62mph in 7.6 seconds and a 'broad and flexible mid-range'.
Any other updates for the range?
From 1st November Octavia vRS prices will start at £24,230, a £400 increase over the current entry point. Offsetting the higher price is the addition of the Amundsen satellite navigation system, which was previously a £755 option.
The navigation package uses a touchscreen display and features a SD card slot. Also included as standard are 18-inch anthracite alloy wheels, bi-Xenon headlights, sports suspension and dual-zone climate control.
