What's all this about?
Frankfurt International Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) - or the Frankfurt Motor Show to you and I - is taking place in September and BMW is going to have a huge, huge stand.
Why?
Because this is one of the physically biggest car shows on the planet and the German manufacturers take the opportunity to make their individual showpieces as gargantuan as they possibly can. The 2015 BMW effort promises to be as big on its own as some other motor shows are in their entirety.
How big is it?
It will be a whopping 12,000 square metres, so large it can display all of the current product offering from every corner of the BMW Group (so BMW, i, M Power, eDrive, Motorrad, MINI and Rolls-Royce) and can also house a 400m-long, figure-of-eight test track. Remarkable.
What new metal will be on show at BMW's colossal creation?
The key premieres will be the 7 Series, including the 740Le plug-in hybrid, eDrive versions of the 2 Series, 3 Series and X5, the all-new X1, the 'six-door' MINI Clubman, Rolls-Royce's opulent Dawn drophead and the 'new' BMW M3 Saloon - presumably a facelifted model of the 431hp performance icon. If you want to see this beast of a stand in person, the Frankfurt IAA runs from September 15-27 this year. We'll be there.
