Hang on; can you have more than one prologue?
Well, Lord of the Rings had about 73 endings, so yeah I guess you can. Anyways, Audi is bringing the third of its Prologue concepts to the Shanghai Motor Show. It's much as it was before - we saw the Prologue coupé in Los Angeles last year, and the Prologue Avant estate in Geneva. This one is nearly the same as the Avant, but it does ride 77mm higher on its springs, and has the expected Allroad stick-on plastic bits.
What's under the bonnet?
It's a plugin hybrid (of course), which uses Audi's magnificent twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine as the petrol half of the equation. Combined, the petrol engine and the electric motors have 730hp to play with yet Audi claims that the car can hit 117mpg and 56g/km of CO2. Audi says it's designed for inductive charging (no cables needed) and can go for slightly over 33 miles on just the batteries.
Of course, it's mostly a handy hint as to the look and styling of the next generations of Audis, especially the new A4 (which arrives this year), the new A8 (next year) and the new A6 (2017) all of which will get the restyled low and wide grille to replace the upright one we're familiar with.
