What's this then?
This is the facelifted version of the Volkswagen Scirocco GTS, which will debut at the Shanghai Motor Show next week.
GTS you say? That's the one that packs the Golf GTI engine right?
Correct - the car to debut in China sports the same 220hp turbocharged 2.0-litre as the current Golf GTI. Funnelled to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual or DSG, Volkswagen says it is good enough to propel the GTS from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.
Decent enough. So anything else?
Most of the other changes are things you would expect: a sporty interior with piano black inlays and black headlining stainless steel pedals and sports seats with contrast stitching; R-Line exterior package with more aggressive bumpers; plus unique side skirts and rear spoiler. There is also a new alloy wheel design and a choice of six colours...
Not exactly inspiring so far.
That's because you didn't let me finish. The biggest news is that the GTS debuts the inclusion of the modular infotainment system that the Golf 7 has had since launch. It will be rolled out onto all Scirocco models from next month.
About time too.
No arguments here.
