What's all this about?
Prices for the new Hyundai i40 have been announced with the range starting at £19,600. Dealers are taking orders now and there are four trim levels to choose from: S, SE Nav, SE Nav Business and Premium.
What do you get for your money?
Available as a saloon or Tourer estate (which carries a £1,250 price premium) the new i40 gets a restyled grille, bumper and lights. Power comes from a 1.7-litre turbodiesel engine producing 115- or 141hp; the latter can be ordered with a new seven-speed DCT automatic in addition to the standard six-speed manual gearbox.
What about the equipment?
Standard equipment on the entry-level i40 S includes 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning and Bluetooth. Upgrade to the SE Nav (from £21,600) to get built-in touchscreen satellite navigation plus rear view camera and parking guidance system. The SE Nav also comes with heated seats to keep you warm, climate control to keep you cool and DAB digital radio as part of a seven-speaker sound system. For an extra £1,500 the SE Nav Business model adds keyless entry, engine start/stop button and driver's seat memory function.
At the top of the range the i40 Premium starts at £25,600, which can be identified by its 18-inch alloy wheels and panoramic electric sunroof. Inside it gets an LCD 'super vision' instrument display, luggage net and lane departure warning system.
