What's all this about?
This is a concept car from Mercedes, due a debut at the Shanghai motor show at the end of April.
It looks like a GLE Coupé - I thought we'd already seen this?
Ah, you've been fooled. This is actually the Concept GLC Coupé.
Which is...?
Kind of like a BMW X4 rival, in the way a GLE Coupé is a competitor for the BMW X6. Although at this stage Mercedes is touting this rendering as a mere concept, expect a production version to be announced within months.
Does Mercedes say anything else about it?
In terms of specifications and running gear, no. In terms of flowery PR bumf, yes, as it explains that this 'dynamically expressive show car combines typical coupe stylistic features with the sensual and pure design idiom of forthcoming Mercedes SUVs'. Make of that what you will; all we know is, what with even pick-ups due to be sallying forth from the three-pointed star by 2020, not making the GLC Coupé a reality would be a daft decision on Merc's behalf.
