What's this then?
This is the Land Rover Defender as essayed by A. Kahn Design.
Hang on, aren't they the bling merchants?
Well, yes, mostly, but hang on, this one might not be too bad. This is the 'Chelsea Wide Track' and if you can overlook the horrendous name then Kahn may just have struck on something decent here. Underneath the massaged styling is a Land Rover Defender, running the older 2.4-litre diesel engine. It gets dramatically widened wheel arches, which feature exposed bolt-heads, a new grille (called an X-Lander grille by Kahn) a new bonnet and redesigned bumper with integrated lights. There are 16-inch wheels, designed to look like classic 'steelies' and a massive under-engine bash-plate.
Inside there are deeply upholstered leather seats with quilted stitching, a new steering wheel and pedals and a bespoke integrated clock, plus hard-wearing floor mats, because this is still a Defender underneath.
Kahn says that prices start at £28,930 and you know what, we reckon this is the best bit of blinging-up we've seen yet from the company.
