What's this then?
This is the Suzuki iK-2 concept and it's every inch the new Swift, which is due to go on sale next year. It previews a much lower-slung looking car than the current small hatch, one that seems a little bigger and classier than what went before.
Suzuki says that the design has "'Liquid Flow', suggestive of the dynamism of an energetic movement of liquid with its low, wide silhouette, is inspired by three keywords: 'harmony,' 'elegance,' and 'energy wave.' Instead of straight, mechanical lines, the body sports flowing curves throughout the body which perfectly create a harmony, conveying classy elegance."
Whatever about that it will have a new engine - a 1.0-litre turbo petrol three-pot that drags the Swift's current drivetrain into the 21st century. Called Boosterjet by Suzuki, the engine has direct fuel injection and forms the basis of a new mild hybrid setup, called SHVS by Suzuki.
Underneath is a new modular platform from which the rest of Suzuki's new model range can be developed.
