What's this all about?
F A B, three letters that anyone who remembers the TV series Thunderbirds will immediately recognise as the call sign of International Rescue. FAB Design might be nothing to do with the 1960s Supermarionation but the Swiss company's Vayu RPR Spider looks as if it could have come from Gerry Anderson's futuristic world. Under the skin it is a McLaren MP4-12C or 650S given a new look. It is named after the Vayu, the Hindu god of the wind, air and life, who is known for his speed and beauty.
Sounds interesting, tell me more.
Cars based on the older 12C model get a visual update thanks to new headlamps, designed to echo the family look of newer McLarens. Other visual changes include larger front air intakes, a diffuser, rear spoiler and wider front and rear wings. Inside the wheel arches are three-piece 20-inch 'Evolution' alloys with 275/20 tyres at the front and 325/30 items at the rear.
A FAB exhaust system increases engine power by 32hp and is said to give the Vayu RPR a pleasing soundtrack.
The interior features new sports seats and an ergonomically designed steering wheel finished in high quality leather. Aluminium pedals are fitted and designed to complement the visible carbon components in the cabin. FAB logos appear on the floor mats and on the seat head rests.
What if I don't want a convertible?
FAB can also perform the same 'individualisation' process on the McLaren 12C or 650S Coupé.
