What's this then?

Citroen has given us full details of its updated C4 hatchback range. It's due to go on sale April of this year.

What's new?

For starters, two new colours (Platinum Grey and Spirit Grey) are available as well as touches of chrome on the front and rear bumpers and weather strips. As part of the Plus pack a new style of 17-inch alloy wheels, known as the 'Miami', are fitted, as are new front lights, LED running lamps and 3-D effect rear lights adding to the exterior's update.

What about inside?

In the cabin, Citroen has introduced new upholstery choices including black/grey 'Rayados' cloth and Grey 'Liberal' cloth on Feel and Flair trim levels respectively. Optional massaging front seats are also available.

A centrally located seven-inch touchscreen is added as standard on Flair models, however is optional on Feel models. Other options include a large panoramic glass roof with electric blind, keyless entry and start, front fog lights with cornering function and a blind spot monitoring system.

What engines are available?

A new family of three-cylinder engines dubbed 'PureTech' and 'BlueHDi' include two petrol units and four diesel.

The PureTech 110 and 130 S&S are turbocharged versions of the previously naturally aspirated petrol engines. Power is now 110hp with 205Nm of torque and 130hp with 230Nm for the 110 and the 130 S&S respectively. The Puretech 110 is mated to a five-speed manual and emits 110g/km of CO2 whilst the PureTech 130 S&S has the option of a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox known as EAT6.

As for the diesel engines, there are four available. The BlueHDi 100 and 100 S&S produce 100hp with 254Nm as low as 1,750rpm while the S&S version emits as little as 86g/km. More powerful diesels, the BlueHDi 120 S&S and the 150 S&S -both mated to a six-speed manual - deliver 120hp and 300Nm and 150hp and 370Nm respectively, with emissions from both below 100g/km. An automatic option will be made available for the BlueHDi 120 S&S on both Feel and Flair versions from May.

Order books for the Citroen C4 are open now with first deliveries happening in April.
