Honda teases Civic Type R like a reluctant stripper

Hmmm. I can't quite make it out...

Yes, that's the frustrating point. Honda has been keeping us waiting for a proper look at the all-new Civic Type R and, with the full public reveal at the Geneva Motor Show imminent, it's making us wait a little bit longer - but amping up the frustration by showing us some teasing little images.

What are we actually looking at?

THE CIVIC TYPE R!!!! WEREN'T YOU LISTENING CLOTH EARS!?!?!?! Sorry, sorry - it's just we've been waiting ages for this car and my nerves are getting a little frayed.

Would some camomile tea help?

Probably not. Still, what we have here are some glimpses of the Civic Type R's aerodynamic armoury. It gets an almost completely flat underside and a whacking great diffuser at the back for some proper race-car style aero. Plus, there's what Honda calls a 'bespoke' rear wing. We are guessing that 'bespoke' is Japanese for 'chuffing massive.' Also, a seriously wide front bumper extends out into big, squared off wheel arches with massive aero vents.

All of this is to give stability to handle the car's prodigious power at high speed. Honda still isn't quoting a full figure but previously said "at least 280hp" and rumours from inside Honda suggest it's well in excess of 300hp.

Behind those dark-grey 19-inch alloys lurk big 350mm vented disc brakes clamped by four-piston Brembo callipers so one thing we can be pretty certain of is that the Civic Type R is going to stop as if it's run into a tree. Just as well considering that the top speed is a claimed 167mph - proper supercar performance not that long ago.

Best of all is the colour scheme - atop the greys and flashes of red, the Civic Type R is going to be launched in a traditional Honda racing colour - Championship White. Now all we have to do is take up some Tai Chi classes to helps us keep calm until the full reveal on March 3rd...
