What's this all about?
On 21-22 February at Race Retro a range of classic road and racing cars will be sold by Silverstone Auctions. Fourteen vehicles are currently listed including what is described as a 'very special' Jaguar XJ220.
What's so special about the Jaguar?
The Ice Blue XJ220 was originally sold to a customer in Denmark; it has covered 24,000km, or approximately 15,000 miles, from new. That mileage is quite high for an XJ220, but the car has been serviced by marque specialist Don Law Racing of Staffordshire. Work has been carried out to increase maximum power to 680hp - up 140hp on the standard car - along with brake and suspension upgrades. The estimated value of the Jaguar is between £165,000 and £185,000.
What if you don't like Jaguars?
Silverstone Auctions has also showcased a couple of Porsches from the 1990s, which are in the sale. There is a 911 3.3 Turbo, which cost its original owner over £75,000 in 1991. The Polar Silver car comes with a 'Can Can Red' leather interior and a comprehensive history folder that details over £30,000 spent on the upkeep of the 911. Expect to pay £55,000-65,000 if this 911 takes your fancy.
If you prefer the wind in your hair there is a 1996 Cabriolet version of the 911, with a £30,000-34,000 estimate. There is documentation including service history and old MOTs to back up the mileage, which is less than 26,000 miles.

Other unusual vehicles include a 1984 Lynx Eventer, an estate conversion of the Jaguar XJS; a 1991 Alfa Romeo SZ; and a 1988 Ford Sierra Cosworth racing car in distinctive Texaco livery. The sale will take place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
