What's this then?
It's called the Mazda CX-3 and it is a new crossover SUV designed to sit beneath the larger CX-5. It adopts similar, albeit smaller, proportions as the big SUV, but makes greater use of Mazda's "Kodo - Soul of Motion" design language.
Another SUV?
Yes, but this is only the second in Mazda's current line-up, which has seen a number of new models introduced over the last three years. The CX-3 will be pitched against the likes of the Nissan Juke, Ford Kuga and Renault Captur when it goes on sale later in 2015 and will be offered in both front- and all-wheel drive guises, although as it most often the case with cars in this busy segment it is the front-wheel drive versions that are likely to be the popular choice amongst buyers.
What engine will it have?
Mazda will be offering 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options in the CX-3. There's no official word yet on performance figures, but we expect the fuel economy, particularly in the diesel, to be among the best in the segment if Mazda's other models are good examples.
Will it be roomy inside?
It should be, even though the exterior dimensions aren't huge, Mazda has employed some clever packaging techniques in order to maximise room inside for passengers. The hip-point has also played a key part in making sure that the CX-3 enjoys ease of access while also affording the driver a commanding view of the road ahead.
