What's this then?
Celebrating the historic association between Rolls-Royce and India's Princes and Maharajas an exclusive Maharaja Phantom Drophead Coupé has been created through the company's Bespoke programme. A special, Indian-themed event was held at the AGMC Rolls-Royce showroom in Dubai to celebrate the car's arrival.
With over 840 cars going to wealthy Indian customers over a five-decade period up to the 1940s Rolls-Royce enjoyed considerable popularity on the sub-continent. The one-off Phantom Drophead is the first in a collection of vehicles inspired by the Maharajas' cars.
Sounds fancy, tell me more.
India's national bird, the peacock, appears on the body and throughout the interior. Carrara White was chosen for the body with an emerald coachline and matching peacock logo. The cloth roof is Deep Green and, when retracted, reveals the wooden deck with another peacock integrated with the marquetry. Inside there is cream leather with emerald green accents, special peacock feather embroidery on the armrests, unique marquetry for the interior woodwork and a Bespoke Maharaja Peacock clock with Cobalto blue and Jade elements to match the emerald and blue embroidered peacocks on the headrests.
What's it for?
Creating the Maharaja Phantom Drophead Coupé is a way to showcase the capabilities of the Bespoke programme to potential customers in the Emirates. Apparently the model has created strong interest in Dubai and customers amongst the Indian community. Osman Abdelmoneim, General Manager at AGMC explained: "Our customers demand the best, the extraordinary and the unique. Such attributes are the hallmarks of every Rolls-Royce motor car, and are particularly evident in the Rolls-Royce Maharaja Phantom Drophead Coupé".
