What's all this about?
Skoda has revealed the UK pricing and specifications of the forthcoming third-generation Fabia Estate.
How much will it cost?
The range will start at £12,460 basic, rising to £18,385 for the top model.
How do the trim lines break down, then?
Entry level is S, with the £12,460 figure getting you in a 1.0 MPI 75hp version. All S models come with six airbags, DAB radio, Bluetooth, stop-start and electric front windows as standard. Step up to SE (from £13,905 for the same engine) and you'll also get manual air conditioning, alloys, Front Assist, an Arkamys surround sound package and Bolero radio with phone controls, Mirror Link, USB and SD card connections. Owners will also enjoy a three-spoke leather steering wheel, height adjustable front seats, a Maxi-Dot trip computer and black roof rails.
What's the top dog?
The SE-L, from £14,755 for the 1.0-litre. It comes with 16-inch alloys, climate control, Light Assistant, cruise control and KESSY, Skoda's version of keyless entry and go.
Why should I buy a Fabia Estate?
It is said to have a class-leading 530 litres of boot space with the back seats up, and a huge 1,395 litres with them folded away. Based on the MQB platform, the new Fabia Estate is up to 65kg lighter than preceding models, while BIK rates start at just 14 per cent with seven versions in the 17-model launch range qualifying for zero road tax. Aside from the 1.0-litre petrol unit, engines include the 1.2-litre TSI petrol and the 1.4-litre TDI diesel, with DSG automatic optional on some models. The 1.2 is expected to be the big seller in the UK.
And when can I buy my Skoda wagon?
The Fabia Estate goes on sale in December in the UK, with first deliveries in March 2015.
