Stunning is the only way to describe Bentley's latest concept car
Please accept our apologies for the size of the picture file of the Hunaudieres, but we think you should be able to see the full beauty of the car. Bentley wowed the automotive world with the unveiling of this dramatic concept supercar. Launched by VW chairman Ferdinand Piech (VW now own Bentley) at Geneva, the only reason for this car is to showcase the new VW/Bentley 16 cylinder engine. 16 cylinders??!! This, based on VW's own VR6 engine, incorporates four chain-driven camshafts and a single crankshaft, driven by all sixteen pistons. Power and torque are prodigious, as one would expect from such an engine - 620bhp and 560lbft are claimed.

It may sound outrageous but this engine is almost certain for future Bentley production. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the car itself. The striking looks combine a squat, snub-nosed front (complete with the traditional wire-mesh grille) with a sleek glasshouse reminiscent of the Jaguar XJ220. Personally, I do not like the tiny headlights or the domed 20in alloy wheels. However, they are certainly eye-catching.

The chassis of the show car is probably not relevant to future production either. It comes straight from the Lamborghini Diablo - another VW Group product.
