The 440 bhp Mustang GT-R took centre stage on Ford's New York show stand. The stunning concept adheres to rules for various GT racing series, which could herald a return to the track for the pony car. The GT-R is said to share 85% of the basic model's parts with the main feature being the 5.0-litre V8. Customers will be able to buy the engine off the shelf at the Ford dealer for around £8k.

Snippet: Jaguar Hints at Re-birth of Daimler - 2004 Jaguar XJ LWB
Jaguar launched the long wheelbase version of the XJ saloon at the 2004 New York Motor Show, but they maintain they will not simply badge-engineer a Daimler. The XJ's wheelbase is stretched by 5 inches and will go on sale in the autumn, initially powered by the 4.2-litre supercharged V8 only. The limo version, christened Concept 8 in its show guise will lock horns with the long wheelbase derivatives of the BMW 7, Audi A8 and Mercedes S-class.
