Motorsport: Morgan wins entry to Le Mans - 2004 Morgan Aero 8
The Morgan Works Race Team have secured a place on the grid for the 2004
Le Mans 24 hour race. The persistent underdogs and crowd favourites will be campaigning the Aero 8 in June's race, the first time since 2002.

Mazda's next MX-5 looks set to be launched as two distinct models: a fixed head coupe (to follow the current "CC" market trend), and a roadster for the purists. Set to build on the huge success of the previous models, the new MX-5 is likely to be offered with more powerful engines which may see a shift upmarket into BMW Z4 territory. Snippet: Hot Megane hits town - 2004 Renault Megane Sport 225
The new RenaultSport Megane goes on sale in priced at £19,500 and £20k for the 3 and 5 door derivatives respectively. Aimed at the market sector that was led by the Focus RS, the new Megane boasts 225 bhp and 300 Nm of torque (both slightly up on the RS). Claimed performance of 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and a maximum of 147 mph are bang on the money for the class. The Megane complements the Cliosport variants in RenaultSport's line-up.

Snippet: Ford reveals dual clutch transmission - 2004 Ford Bronco concept
Ford subtly previewed its new dual clutch gearbox at the Detroit show. Hidden away in the Bronco concept, the transmission went largely unnoticed. Similar to VW's DSG set-up, the new system is pencilled in for launch in 2006. Expect to see it on the next generation Focus.

Review: Nissan Micra 1.4-litre SVE review - 2003 Nissan Micra (1.4 SVE 5-door manual)
Before we took delivery of the chic little Nissan Micra, we noted that the on-board computer has an anniversary function, which allows the owner to program in their birthday and have the car wish them well on the day. This is not ground-breaking technology, but something to help the Micra stand out in the crowd of screaming toddlers that is the small car market. I did not expect to have to set the reminder for the final day of the loan, but that day actually did come all too quickly.

Subaru's new WR1 went on sale this week for £29,995, intensifying the battle between the Impreza and Mitsubishi's Lancer. This 316 bhp version sees the 0-60 time dropped to 4.3 seconds, matching the FQ330 Evo 8. Only 500 WR1s will be made, although Subaru has not ruled out a production version of the engine. If you miss out, then the JDM type-C is very similar in specification and was the donor for the adjustable centre differential.
